In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, we share with you the work of our team member, Delphine Criscenzo, who has memorialized the story of activist and abuse survivor Liysa Swart in the video “Lay Down Your Life. The Cost of Freedom.” vimeo/68270692 Oregon woman Liysa Swart shot and killed her husband after 4 years of abuse. She spent 12 years in prison and was released last year. Now she speaks out against domestic violence, the limitations of Oregon’s self-defense laws, and the marginalization of abuse victims.
