In olden days, things were different. There were no electrical devices, and none of the many entertainment diversions we now have. Many people couldnt even read, so even such commonplace things as books were denied the masses. Thus, it was common that women would spend most of the day cooking for husbands who spent their days toiling at various chores that put food on the table. Furthermore, multiple generations would live in the same house, or people lived in such close quarters that preparing food alongside neighbors was commonplace. Those days are mostly gone from societies which call themselves modern. This is a long winded way of saying there is NO reason, in this day and age, for a person, either male or female, to make gnocchi from scratch.
