In order to bring us back on track, I hereby reproduce the regulations of the group. The musical heritage of the Yoruba is almost unlimited. Our fore parents have had musical compositions from time immemorial such that it is very difficult to determine the volume of the Yoruba musical heritage. Many of the songs of our oral performance remain unrecorded. A substantial part of such oral performances are lost. The import of Yoruba Popular Music, as a group is to, as much as possible, record for posterity the works of Yoruba contemporary musicians, not minding the type or genre of Yoruba music they sing. The group is aimed at analyzing, interpreting and evaluating the songs of Yoruba musical artistes, applying objective criteria. The group does not allow abusive, demeaning, or foul language. All our musicians are talents and stars in their own rights. They are therefore to be accorded the necessary respect, even when their music is being discussed. The group shall thrive on mutual respect among members. Every member shall have equal right to express his/her opinion, without been vilified for such opinion. Provided that the opinions of other members are respected. YPM is therefore conceived to be a commonwealth of knowledge, a commonwealth of wisdom, where every member is, at one and the same time, a teacher and a student. Lyrics of Yoruba musicians of any type and commentaries, Biographical facts and profiles of Yoruba musicians fit perfectly into the scope of the Group. These, along with any other materials that are relevant to the preservation, promotion and propagation of Yoruba music are welcome. However, advertisement in any form is not allowed in the group. Members who indulge in such will be removed from the Group. YPM is not about money. Any member who engages in any form of financial transaction with other member(s) does so at his/her own risk. The group will not entertain such complaints and will not be liable for any loss resulting from such financial transaction(s).
