In other movie news, you know I always enjoy the trailers. I had a few repeats this time and a couple that looked really dumb, but I was excited to see the trailer for Get On Up. Its the story of James Brown, in case you didnt get that from the title. What an excellent cast - Chadwick Boseman playing James Brown, along with Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, and Dan Akroyd. Oh, and Craig Davis is in it. He was so hilarious in This is the End but Im thinking hell be playing a more serious part here. Im just glad to see him getting more work. And speaking of getting more work, I want to see more of Chadwick Boseman, and not just him playing famous people (although I loved him as Jackie Robinson in 42). I just think he would be great in a lot of things and I hope he isnt held back from certain roles just because hes black. When Ive seen him on screen he seems like the kind of person youd like to know and I think he would be really good in a wide variety of roles. Heck, even in Draft Day I would have liked to have seen more of his story (and less of the Kevin Costner/Jennifer Garner romance). Like, maybe he could be the next Denzel or something. So heres hoping this opens a lot more doors for him. I dont know if I would normally go see a James Brown movie (I can vary wildly when it comes to seeing biopics) but I think this cast is going to sway me into seeing it.
