In our Ghanaian culture, the family is usually not only two - TopicsExpress

In our Ghanaian culture, the family is usually not only two parents and their children living together but it is all the descendants of a common ancestor. This includes grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and, nephews. All these people play various roles in one’s life. I still remember some cousins and other extended family relations who, apart from my biological parents and nuclear family members, gave me money, provisions, gari, shito, etc. during my schooldays. Some of them also offered me very good counsel. No one is, therefore, an island. Our families need us and we also need them.
