In our marriage, all monies and assets belong to both of us, - TopicsExpress

In our marriage, all monies and assets belong to both of us, regardless of who earns the paycheck! All of our stuff is 100% mine, and all of our stuff is 100% his. Its only in the case of divorce that I would walk away with only 50% of whats mine, and my husband would get only 50% of whats his. When there was lack, then we both suffered lack. When the abundance came, then we both enjoyed the fruit of abundance. I do not have to ask my husband for money that rightfully belongs to me, even though he is the bread winner. I am not his child. I am his wife; his life partner in everything. Im so glad that we both understand and adhere to this very basic concept in marriage called community or joint property. I get so irritated when I counsel married couples, who dont understand this concept and the husband says things like, She needs to get her own money and stop mooching off of me. I also hear the wife say things like, If his car breaks down, hes not driving mine, because I need to get myself to work! Selfishness is so ugly, and especially in a marriage! I know that I have my work cut out in trying to get them to understand their own Bible regarding a husbands role as provider and wifes role to be respectful and supportive of the head of household. The #1 cause of divorce among Christian marriages is money, and the Christian divorce rate has now exceeded the divorce rate of the secular world! Whatever happened to the vow, For richer or poorer...? Jesus cant be pleased with how we treat our spouses over possessions and money. Smh
