In our ongoing relationship with water and lack of it at critical junctures, its worth thinking about how quickly big infrastructure can be undone and affect the daily lives of hundreds of thousands of people. How does one design for chaos? We have a few answers from the 2011 floods in south-east Queensland (largely unheeded), some from drought years when people rallied to save water from waste in their everyday lives - a legacy that lives on to some extent. Think again of this challenge, of the Iraqi people and the shattering effects of war and terrorism on this most basic essential for life.
