In our society today, we spend many hours and a lot of money - TopicsExpress

In our society today, we spend many hours and a lot of money chasing success. We sacrifice relationships and often our health chasing “riches and recognition”. Our culture today tells us that our level of success depends on our level of education, what kind of degree we have and how many hours we work. We have come to depend on our worldly education system for our wisdom and thus our success. In 1 Kings, Solomon was given a huge responsibility of governing Israel. Now Solomon already had the title of King over Israel but he knew the title alone meant nothing, he had to perform. Solomon did not ask for riches or recognition, he unselfishly asked for wisdom in governing and God freely gave it. Now get this; Solomon’s subsequent behavior then provided immediate evidence of his wisdom. (I guess there were no STAR tests during that time.) Due to Solomon simply seeking wisdom from God, he was known to excel in Psychology, Business Administration, Diplomatic Relations, Engineering, Economics, Agriculture and Literature. WOW! We generally just seek to excel on one of those areas. We must realize that Solomon’s level of wisdom and success was not dependant on his worldly education or his ability to learn; it was dependent on his desire and availability to receive wisdom from God. If you are a saved child of Christ then you already have the wisdom of God inside of you in the form of the Holy Spirit. Desire it and make yourself available to receive it today just as Solomon did. Have a blessed new year!
