In peri babri demolition years I was doing my MS in ahmedabad 89-92.... Having been exposed to serious casteism of bihar...the gujrati sense of castelesness was very refreshing .... But times of saffronisation had started wholesale....as resident doctors in orthopaedics and traumatology we saw the effects of rioting in front of us.... hindu-muslims riots in ahmedabad.... About 8 to 9 in nos. With the massive rioting of 7th january 93...is as fresh in my memory... But the thinkers had a deep question which was discussed in doctors circle.. My room partner was a muslim colleague and as usual we worked together in saving human lives... And we wondered wheather indian muslims can ever have a distinct indian identity...wherein they wont have to wear their identity on their faces....and even reconversion to the parent religion was discussed.. Now that a gujrati hindu is poised to be the prime ministreal candidate ...I wonder if that thought is being revived somewhere..... And for those who think hindus are anti muslims .....they have to come forward and discuss the comparative theology ....we are supposedly intellectuals arnt we.... Its about sanatan dharm and abrahimic religions...and islam is the most fericious of the three.... Sanatan has surrendered its ferociousness due to jain-buddhist effects....but how about islam??? Its not about hindus and muslims...but arabic islam and ancient sanatan dharm....
