In playing music for the last 10 years I have never been ripped - TopicsExpress

In playing music for the last 10 years I have never been ripped off by a venue or promoter. Unfortunately for me that streak has run its course. I performed at Pink Moon Festival in Rock Camp, WV with a contract from Jessica Abramson stating that I would be paid in cash immediately after my performance almost 2 months ago. After I was a good sport and my performance slot was pushed until 7AM(!!) Jessica was no where to be found. To date Jessica has repeatedly acknowledged she owes me money via email, made numerous promises to send it whose deadlines have come and gone, given excuses that she and the festival have no money, and has most recently said they are selling tickets to NEXT YEARS festival in order to try to pay me and the other artists they stiffed this year. Music is my livelihood and the same applies to many of my friends around the DMV, the US, and beyond. Money paid to me is used to cover my expenses (I drove 10 hours to perform at this festival), pay my very reasonable bills, and feed my family. Stealing from a musician is disgusting and Im just sad someone like this is operating a festival and stealing from other families as well. Ive never had to do a post like this before, and it sucks that I have to do this one now. So fellow mid-Atlantic musicians beware - if youre going to play this festival at all make sure you are paid in cash prior to taking the stage.
