In recent days my mind has been contemplating a 21st century - TopicsExpress

In recent days my mind has been contemplating a 21st century dilemma. It seems that a fairly new phenomenon is invading a portion of evangelicalism. They dress it up in different expressions, but it adds up to the same thing: My worldview doesnt HAVE to be based on revealed scripture... (Meanwhile pretending to do so...) It seems the Psalmist did not have this struggle nor inner debate. Hence the words of Psalm 19: 8 The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The decree of the Lord is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple. 9 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The command of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eye. 10 The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The statutes of the Lord are true, all of them just; 11 More desirable than gold, than a hoard of purest gold, Sweeter also than honey or drippings from the comb. 12 By them your servant is warned; obeying them brings much reward. 13 Who can detect trespasses? Cleanse me from my inadvertent sins. 14 Also from arrogant ones restrain your servant; let them never control me. Then shall I be blameless, innocent of grave sin. 15 Let the words of my mouth be acceptable, the thoughts of my heart before you, Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Look at what the writer says Gods word does: refreshes, gives wisdom, is simple, is right, provides CLARITY, rejoices the heart, enlightens, provides truth, defines justice! No wonder its more precious/valuable than GOLD! Cleanses us from sin. And keeps us from GRAVE sin! Maybe some dont need any of these things. But I do... I NEED the refinement that only the revealed, consistent, and accurate work and word of the God of creation can provide... And MAN Im glad it does! #fb
