In recent weeks due to the high number of Republican Prisoners in Roe House and the difficulties encountered by the oppressive controlled movement regime currently in place on the Republican Wing; lock up has not always been happening strictly at 7.30 pm. Last night at just before 7.30 pm a 100 strong team made up of screws and riot squad with dogs descended onto the Republican wing and ordered the Republican Prisoners to lock up. They filed in using intimating behaviour and language taunting the POWs and warning them to be careful walking to their cells stating they could injure themselves quite badly should they slip and fall. If a POW wasnt walking as fast as they would like the riot squad forcibly trailed them to their cells . Roe 4 Republican Prisoners report this morning that this response by Maghaberry administration to a delay in locking up was totally unmerited and see it for what it is a flexing of the muscles and designed purely to intimate our POWs and state that once again the administration have shown that they have no desire to create a conflict free environment in Roe. We the IRPWA strongly condemn the actions of the administration last night on Roe and demand that the practice of using intimating behaviour and violence against Republican Prisoners ends now.
