In recent weeks, weve repeatedly heard a rumor going around town that a Woolley Market employee supposedly told a family to leave the Market after they offered a blessing with their meal. Weve looked into the rumor, and questioned our employees about it. Weve talked to lots of folks in town that have heard the rumor, but couldnt find a single person who knew the actual people to whom it allegedly happened, nor the employee involved. Which is to say, we could find no evidence whatsoever that the rumor is true. If this did happen to you, or you have information about it, please send a confidential email to will.honea@gmail so that we can get to the bottom of it. That said, wed be totally shocked if this rumor had any truth to it. Since we opened last summer, weve hosted church groups and many other groups in the Market Mezzanine community space. (By the way, our Mezzanine community space is open to any community group, free of charge!) The Woolley Market is a community market, open to everyone, regardless of their faith, creed or philosophy. As Will Rogers famously said, your right to swing your arm ends where the other guys nose begins. Anyone that can follow this simple rule is welcome here, whatever they believe. The right to freely exercise faith is a bedrock principle enshrined in our nations Constitution, our Founding Fathers effort to avoid the religious warfare tearing Europe apart. Respect for that idea is part of the culture at the Woolley Market, and a condition of employment here. To be part of the Woolley Market, the only thing you have to believe is that the best food in the world comes from hard work and healthy local soil -- and, of course, that Sedro-Woolley is the best town in the Universe! - The Woolley Market Team
