In reference to The Great Wave Debate: Today, I rode about 80 miles, interstate, back roads, in towns and around towns. 12 of the 13 bikers I passed, on all types of bikes, did not return The Wave (Kudos to the dude on the Honda Shadow!) & I wondered about it when I realized there may be a reason. While riding, like never before, we are forced to avoid pot holes, jack holes, trash bags, cell phones, pedestrians, scooters, broken turn signals (why else wouldnt they blink?), the entitled luxury/race car, and a blue haired old lady in a Toyota (oddly specific, I know). Those were the obstacles I avoided today and in the process I did not nor could have waved at another brother or sister riding by. So, as I ride through this beautiful Autumn and beyond, I will wave as I have for two decades but if you dont wave back, Ill understand. The last miles may have been treacherous and Im glad to see you ride by at all.
