In reference to the poorly represented cast of Exodus: “I can’t mount a film of this budget … and say that my lead actor is Mohammad so-and-so from such-and-such,” director Ridley Scott told Variety. “I’m just not going to get it financed.” I honestly dont blame Ridley Scott for this, but financiers. I dont think Hollywood realizes that audiences are intrigued by good movies LONG before good actors. This is why the Independent is maintaining such an incredible spotlight... We dont rely on names or numbers because a good film happens before the padding. I wish we could create without budget. Wed all be better off, more creative, and achieve our goals without relying on the hope that people who are able will support our talents financially. BUT here we are... and this is why bad films get made (or good films dontr get made at all), money gets involved and over thinks everything.
