In regards to the OP saga: The funny thing is the day this happened (14 Feb 2013) I remember turning to my father and saying he is going to be found guilty on manslaughter (basically the same thing as culpable homicide ). I feel that the judgement was fair and I dont believe OP intended to kill his girlfriend. Though I do think that shooting through a door is not only completely irresponsible but also totally stupid as you never know who is behind the door and where the bullets will hit (for example I might aim low intending to hit the intruders legs but the intruder might be in a sitting position so shooting low would seriously injure them or even kill them). Also this was a victory for the gun community as count 4 (possession of illegal ammo) was given a not guilty verdict (for those who care to know all courts {lower and high} of the region are bound but verdicts made) which will make it a lot harder to prove possession of illegal ammo.
