In rescue there are so many plain black, brindle and not so pretty dogs that have the BEST personalities but sadly get left behind due to their looks. I notice the lack of applications on a black or brindle dog in my care, I can put up a perfect write up about them but they still struggle, whereas a dog that may have a string of issues will get many applicants just because its prettier than the rest. This is sad and superficial, Can we please try to spread the word that its not whats on the outside that counts its on the inside...what a perfect way to show your children that they dont need that cute little puppy when they can save the life of an older, plain looking dog that can be their best friend, I understand that its somewhat risky adopting directly from the pound but if you go with a great rescue then that dog will be put through the testing and the rescue will be honest letting you know any potential problems the dog has. Please take the time to read the wording on a dogs profile post rather than just looking at the photo :)
