In response to some negative posts on various Social Media sites in regards a cat we have up for adoption. We would like to clarify Warrington Animal Welfares (WAW) situation. Animals do not get brought to WAW for no reason and we do not go out and actively seek out animals to rehome. In regards to Ben/Brian, he was brought into the centre by lady who said his owner had died and herself and her neighbours had been feeding him, they were concerned about the cold weather and therefore legally signed him over into the care of WAW. He was at the centre for about a month, during which time he was neutered and looked after so he was in good enough condition to be rehomed. Unfortunately during that time, the cat was posted on our WAW Lost and Found site, but as the site is a service we offer the public to use and not administered by WAW, the connection between the post and the cat at our centre was not made. As the legal owners of the cat we have a duty of care, which means we will return Ben/Brian to his original owners, if they comply with our standard re-homing policy, which includes a home check and a donation to cover his vets cost during his stay. It is not the position of WAW to steal cats, as we have lots of genuine animals in need of the space at our centre. We hope this situation is able to resolve itself positively. Thanks
