In response to yet another article busting on Christians for using the word blessed: Dear author - I use this word ... ummmmm ... a lot. I mean A LOT! Not because I have a lot of material stuff (I dont). Nor because my life is always pleasing (it isnt). Nor because Im pain free (Im not). Nor because I am always healthy (mostly but not completely). I use it because even in the midst of my most difficult moments, God is present to me. Even in my hell, God is present to me (pretty sure thats covered in the Pauline epistles). So, I get what youre saying. Its a lot like love. I love chocolate or my wife. I love Scotch and my sons. I love a good pick up and God. Meh. We use the word in ways we maybe ought not. However, not all of us and rarely any of us all the time. I am blessed. My life isnt perfect and I dont own all the cool stuff and I dont have a gajillion dollars and Im not perfect. But I am blessed. Because God is present to me. And so are you. Because God is present to you. Even in your hells, God is present to you. Thank you for a thought provoking article. I agree with you in part, but not completely. Peace.
