In search of a material that I would like to write for a new stageplay that is based on true-to-life events, I stumbled upon a tragedy that happened decades ago… In the 1980s, while I was still a resident of Manila (I’ve been living now for more than 20yrs. in Europe), I too was a regular viewer of the most popular Philippine noontime show called “Eat Bulaga”. Sadly, I can’t say that I have seen entirely all their shows since during those years I was flying as air hostess for one of the world’s leading airlines. However, I can remotely remember this issue about a very young starlet named Pepsi Paloma being raped and all the other juicy stories connected to it. I believe that this article is not merely founded on hearsay or induced by the competition between these two giant networks as it has a ring of truth to it. BUT there is no way we can determine nor can we make a complete and accurate conclusion for it will be unjust to all parties concerned. However, I see no reason why the case cannot be re-opened or re-investigated even it this alleged “rape” took place decades ago. If octogenarian Nazi war criminals or the likes of them who committed heinous crimes against humanity can be brought to justice even eons afterwards, then why should it not be possible for this case if there is a united public outcry? It will only serve everybody right, to clear once and for all whether the crime was committed or not! Pepsi Paloma who was not just raped but was mercilessly and brutally gang-raped should very well be served her long-overdue justice especially if these same perpetrators are also responsible for her death as suggested by this article. Now, if TVJ (Tito, Vic and Joey, hosts of this noontime show) and the late Ricie D’ Horsie are genuinely innocent, then let them be finally exonerated from all these destructive accusations and let this issue be settled, closed and buried for all eternity. If I may quote one of the better assessments or comments on this article: “The author should present more evidences other than anecdotes or urban legends to justify these allegations. After all, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence”. (end) Whatever, wherever or however the tides may turn, I hope that IT IS NOT YET TOO LATE TO FIND OUT THE TRUTH! globalnation.inquirer.net/99861/the-rape-of-pepsi-paloma#ixzz2vcSnwyMr
