In search of a spot to photograph the July 12 supermoon, one of our Vanguard readers – Nicole Gushue – found what she felt was the perfect spot in Rocco Point. The moon is called a supermoon – also known as a perigee moon – at certain times of the year because as it is at its closest point in orbit around the earth, it appears bigger and brighter in the sky than a normal full moon. There are three supermoons happening this summer. The others are on Aug. 10 and Sept. 9.
