In solidarity with comrades in Mozambique in these challenging, times... Thank you, Cesar Mufanequico for keeping us informed. by Cesar Mufanequico (MATRAM Co-ordinator) The burden carried by the poor to access health care services in Mozambique, has now been made harder by the stalemate on negotiations between the Government of Mozambique and the Medical Association of Mozambique, Currently 16.000 people living with HIV and TB have not accessed their medication since the start of the strike which would increase the resistance of medication and in some instances some could develop extremely drug resistance. Activists in Mozambique therefore need solidarity to end this crisis. It seems the current administration since took power has never given priority to health care. For example in 2006, the health budget was at 14% and since then it as decreased to a mere 7.2% in 2012. Indeed the country has faced huge challenges on access to medicines with frequent medicines stock outs and shortage of all kinds of working conditions to the healthcare workers.
