In some pain and the meds are working TOO WELL (I feel loaded), but Im still managing to feel grateful beyond belief. 25 years ago today I was brike, homeless, living in the back of a car. I would look at my reflection in the glass of store windows and see what I couldnt believe. I was hooked, had missed a lot of viens and subsequently had numerous open abscess that were weeping fluid down my arms, black and blue from bruises, and just lost, absolutely lost. Everything I owned could fit into a brown paper grocery bag. EVERYTHING. Today, even though my prognosis isnt good for a much longer life span now, things have changed. The Steps reintroduced me to my GOD, restored my self esteem and supplied me with respect for myself and no longer did I suffer from financial fears. I own a home, have 2 luxury cars and a Harley and all the stuff by which success in life is measured. With the one exception of a significant other and a family, I have EVERYTHING in my life I always hoped for and wished for. A few days larer, I would collapse and go into a coma from a massive coronary, but it all worked out. I came out of it, and ran away from the Hospital I was in and went to a meeting I knew was being held, not to get clean, but to get out of the rain, have a cup of coffee and con some fool out of a bed. Well the fool was me. I got the bed, met the man who would sponsor me and started this journey. I learned this new recipe of how to live and thats truly how it started - on September 20th 1989. My God am I blessed. Truly blessed. No matter what else is going on I still know that I walk under an umbrella of His Grace. Simetimes, its overwhelming. Like right now ! JUST OVERWHELMING ! THANKS, GOD ! FOR ALL OF IT ! EVERY LAST BIT IF IT ALL. IM BLOWN AWAY WITH GRATITUDE ! TRULY, I LOVE YOU !
