In some remote parts of #China, there are people who do not know what #HIV is or how it is spread. In these areas, people often have a great level of ignorance and fear of the disease. ow.ly/F5EXY In a small Sichuan village, an 8-year-old boy carrying the HIV virus was expelled by local villagers. Over 200 signed their names on a joint letter in a secret meeting. While the villagers were signing, the boy came into the room and saw the process. According to Dragon TV, the boy was diagnosed as an HIV carrier in 2011. His parents are both migrant workers in other provinces. The boy was living with his grandfather though he was not an actual relative. The head of the village said that they hope related departments could pay better attention to the boy and help him by offering better medical treatments and financial assistance, which all the villagers would support. The boy, however, is not likely to go anywhere as county officials have said that the villagers did not have the right to expel him.
