In spite of the fact that many in this post-modern generations, even Christians, tend to overlook metanarrative (one universal big story encompassing the entire world from the book of Genesis in the Old Testament to the book of Revelation in the New Testament), and fragmentize each story in the Bible into diverse different sections according to one’s personal religious preferences, it is important for a Christian to read the Bible as the one big story regarding the relationship between God and human beings. There is the absolute unity in diversity in the Bible. In spite of the fact that Bible was influenced by many historical and cultural contexts characteristic of the ancient Middle East and the Mediterranean world, there is one all-encompassing unified theme in the Bible from beginning to the end in terms of God’s special plan for human beings to rescue them from their disobedience – His special purpose in the Creation of the entire universe, all creatures, and human beings, human’s disobedience through the incident of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, God’ s special covenant through Abraham and his nation (Israel) embodied by the Ten Commandments given to human beings through Moses, many judges in Israel and Hebrew prophets who warned against the rebellion and apostasy among God’s chosen nation against their apostasy, the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross, the rise of churches for spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, the restoration of the entire universe through the second coming of Jesus Christ in the future.
