In terms of being able to blow peoples minds and inspire them to see vastly arcane and complex systems in human--if a bit dramatic--terms, the PBS series Cosmos sits right up there with West Wing. If youve never seen it, check it out on YouTube (one of them is attached). Itll honestly change the way you look at the world and, if nothing else, itll emphasize just how strange and complex the universe is. Cosmos has been redone, if you didnt know, with Neil deGrasse Tyson replacing the late Carl Sagan. Thats the good news. Bad news is that remakes are never as good as the original, this one is being redone by FOX, and they chose Seth MacFarlane--yes, THAT Seth MacFarlane--to direct it. Oh, but wait, theres some late-breaking additional good news. Reviews are in on the first episode and its said to be every bit as good as the original, and even superior in some ways. The universe truly is strange and complex. It airs Sundays at 9pm on.... [shutters]... FOX.
