In terms of diagnosing an eating disorder, individuals who have extremely atypical eating behaviors not characterized by other established disorders are classified as EDNOS - or Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. I bring this up because many (most?) of the clients I work with have disordered eating, if not an eating disorder. In fact, as a nation I would argue that the nutrition noise and nutrition obsession contributes to anxiety, restriction and chaos with food and it is SO unfortunate. Having anxiety about food is not normal. So, here is my question: if you approach your health, wellness or nutrition issues as treating an eating disorder or disordered eating, how would that change treatment for you? I would really love to hear your comments so if you arent comfortable posting in this public forum, please feel free to message me or email emily@emilyfonnesbeck. Thank you! :)
