In the 1940s, my father left the land of his ancestors, Ijebuland, migrated to Ilesha in search of greener pasture. The gold rush took him there. Ijeshaland has a vast deposit of gold. This industry has not been fully exploited yet under the unitary system. Gold mining reached its peak between 1935 and 1941, but since 1950 mining activities nose-dived. There are gold deposits in Iseyin-Ogun river as well. An autonomous Yoruba Region will develop this industry. #RegionalAutonomy all the way!!!!
