In the 40 years Ive been on this earth I found the most complex emotion in the human condition doesnt even have a word to describe it in the dictionary. This emotion comes to us in a wide array of feelings flooded on us all at once. The emotion that I am talking about can best be described in this way: As humans we struggle with the decision to move forward with our lives but become entangled when desire from the past reminds us of what we are moving away from. One example of this emotion in our lives is this: -When facing the prospect of something new or possibly better, along comes the thing from our recent past (who gave us reason to seek something new in the first place) reminding us of what we fell in love with. The emotion I am trying to describe in this post resides here. That in between: -On the one hand wanting that something better we found but in the other hand, still wanting what was. -Joy at what you found, fear of what you might lose. -Being afraid to lose out on this new opportunity, happy for the chance at reconciliation. -Absolute ecstasy in the new giving you everything you were missing from the old, but the same ecstasy in finally feeling like you are getting the attention you always wanted from the old. That is the emotion I am talking about which brings me to another point along the same lines: -Why does it seem like the old only wants you when the new shows interest? Is this a reminder of how green our grass was all along but we were too blind to see it? Maybe, but I hate the stuck in between and I wished I had a word to describe this.
