In the 60s and 70s before I started working for myself wherever I was employed there was a Union. The wages were enough to live on reasonably comfortably and bring up a family. Overtime was paid at time and a quarter weekdays, time and half on Saturdays and double on Sundays. If I worked on a Bank Holiday it was double time plus a day off at ordinary time. There was also 2 weeks paid holiday plus bank Holidays of course. We had a 1/4 hour tea break mid morning and afternoon, lunch was an hour. Im curious and would like to know, if you are employed by a company do you still get similar conditions and do you have a Union in your firm of which you are a member?
