In the A grade men’s competition Masters defeated Marist 3-1. Laurie Wakefield has been back to his best in the goal circle and was prominent again scoring twice for Masters. Andrew Wright also scored for Masters with David Hogan the lone goal-scorer for Marist. Best and Fairest: Masters – Todd Skinner, Laurie Wakefield. Marist – Luke Swindle, Luke Hodges, Scott Allen. Magpies were too strong for Rovers winning 6-1. Andrew Bourke scored a hat-trick with Peter Amr, Jack Elliott and Kurt Lovett also contributing. Brad Simpson scored the only goal for Rovers. Best and Fairest Magpies – Kurt Lovett, Peter Amor, Jack Elliott. Rovers – Hamish Orr. In the A grade women’s competition Rovers defeated Magpies 2-0. Illie Hewitt and M’Lissa Ross both scored for Rovers. Mandy Westcott was in excellent form for Rovers during the match. Best and Fairest: Rovers – Mandy Westcott, Illie Hewitt, Tracey Chambers, Jane Mattiske. Magpies – Syann Allen, Angie Peisley. Middleton defeated Cellars in the other A grade match 2-0. Emily Dean and India Draper were the goal-scorers for Middleton in a close match. Best and Fairest: Middleton – Cindy Nutley, Em Dean, Lee Hodge, Sami Afele. Cellars – Haylee Wakefield. In the B grade men’s competition Middleton were far too strong for Magpies Academy winning 14-1. Middleton were dominant all over the field with their finishing in the circle a highlight of the match. Goals were scored by Scott Allen (4), Gordon McIntosh (3), Matt Welsh (2), Tim Welsh (2), Luke Hodges (2) and Daniel Allen. Angus Arndell scored for Magpies. Best and Fairest: Middleton – Luke Hodges, John Welsh Scott Allen. Magpies – Jackson Hay. Magpies Black defeated Magpies White 2-0. Andrew Cassell and P Moody scored for Black. Ben Somers was the stand-out player in the match. Best and Fairest: Black – Ben Somers, Liam Wakefield, Mitch Miles. White – Will Searl. In the B grade women’s competition Rovers defeated Marist 3-2. Hannah Ross scored twice and Alyssa Miller once for Rovers with Michelle Godwin scoring for Marist. Best and Fairest: Rovers – Susie Mackay, Katie Healey, Stacey Ross. Marist – Maureen Massey, Courtney Miles. Cellar Crows Black defeated Magpies 3-0. Carla Peden (2) and Jane McGlashan were the goal-scorers in the match. Best and Fairest: Cellars – Toni Speakman, Carla Peden, Jane McGlashan. Magpies – Jacqui Simpson, Maddie Tanswell, Ashleigh Sense. Middleton Pink defeated Middleton Eagles 4-1. Tamara Fagan, Renee Herft, Mel Parker and Ally Smith scored for Pink with Ashley Kirwan scoring for Eagles. Best and Fairest: Pink – Sue McGrath, Tamara Fagan, Jenna Evans, Amanda Draper. Eagles – Larissa Besant, Ashley Kirwan. Middleton Maroon defeated Cellar Crows Aqua 3-2 in a close match. India Draper, Gabbie Noakes and Oliva Noakes all scored for Maroon with Cellars goals coming from Brooke Kelly and Michelle Skinner. Best and Fairest: Middleton – Louise O’Leary, Gabbie Noakes, Suzie Cooper, India Draper. Cellars – Katie Nash, Brooke Kelly.
