In the A grade men’s competition Rovers Gold defeated Masters 4-1. Rovers have found good form in recent weeks and were impressive once again with Ian Westcott starring for the black and golds. Tayler Green, Jeremy Huk, Ian Westcott and Toby Nash all scored for Rovers whilst James Hunt was the lone goal-scorer for Masters. Best and Fairest: Rovers – Ian Westcott, Kieren Deland. Masters – Glenn Johnstone. Cellar Crows and Marist played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. Despite only having eight players, the return of Jacob Townsend to Marist has really strengthened their ranks with Townsend the stand-out player on the field. Kevin Bloomfield, Graeme Thompson and Kobi Rundel-Fitzsummens all scored for Cellars whilst Taylor Dolbel 2 and Brad Gardiner were the goal-scorers for Marist. Best and Fairest: Marist – Jacob Townsend, Scott Allen. Cellars – Graeme Thompson. In the A grade women’s competition Cellar Crows defeated Cubs 4-2. Cubs got out to a 2-0 lead early in the match, but Cellars finished the stronger of the two sides running in three unanswered goals in the second half. Rebecca Cowling and Louise Hawken both scored a double for Cellars whilst Teagan Lundy-Stern and Stacey Ross scored for Cubs. Best and Fairest: Cellars – Louise Hawken, Annette Orr, Teagan Rodgers. Cubs – Stacey Ross, Teagan Lundy-Stern, Jane Grosvenor. Magpies were too strong for Middleton winning their match 5-2. Magpies are beginning to play their best hockey at the right end of the season and put together a strong team performance in this match. Cherie Johnstone, Nicole Knox, Wendy Rix, Sommer Tanswell and Ella-J Harris all scored for Magpies whilst Emily Dean and Tamara Fagan scored for Middleton. Best and Fairest: Magpies – Cherie Johnstone. Middleton – Tamara Fagan, Monique Dixon, Niamh Dixon, Emily Dean. In the B grade men’s competition Magpies Black defeated Rovers Gorillas 4-3 in a close contest. Mitch Miles was very impressive for Magpies whilst Mark Swan had a great game for Rovers. Goal-scorers: Magpies – Mitch Miles 2, Craig Miles, Liam Wakefield. Rovers – Matthew Job, Ciaran Morgan, Brad Simpson. Best and Fairest: Magpies – Mitch Miles, Peter Yelland. Rovers – Mark Swan, Jordan Clark, Mitch Ward. Middleton defeated Magpies White 3-1. Middleton have consistently been playing a good team game of hockey and were rewarded for their style of play with another win. Dave Sherritt was outstanding for Middleton receiving maximum best and fairest points. Murray Dean, Blake Godwin and Dave Sherritt all scored for Middleton whilst James Mackenzie scored for Magpies. Best and Fairest: Middleton – Dave Sherritt, Blake Godwin, Scott Allen. Magpies – Trae James, Graeme Somers. In a close match Magpies Academy just edged out Cellar Crows 2-1. Harry Williams was superb for Magpies gaining the player of the match from the umpires and scoring one of the goals for Magpies. Angus Arndell also scored for Magpies whilst Robbie Dunn scored for Cellars. Best and Fairest: Magpies – Harry Williams, Nathan Wright, Angus Arndell. Cellars – Grant Skinner, Andrew Francis. In the B grade women’s competition Cellar Crows Black and Middleton pink drew 1-1. Skye Harris and Tanya Batt scored the goals for their respective sides. Best and Fairest: Cellars – Lyndal Matthews, Kerrie Kennedy. Middleton – Sue McGrath, Tanya Batt, India Draper. Magpies were too strong for Middleton Gold winning 5-0. Brooke Kelly, Emma Rice, Kate Rice, Amy Tanswell and Madeleine Tanswell all scored for Magpies. Best and Fairest: Magpies – Emma Rice, Amy Tanswell, Rachael Kelly, Amelia Tanswell. Middleton – Monique Dixon. Rovers put together a strong performance defeating Cellar Crows Aqua 5-0. Hannah Ross 2, Tammy Tanks 2 and Sami Afele were the goal-scorers for Rovers. Stacey Ross proved worthy of her recent NSW under 13 selection having a great game for Rovers. Best and Fairest: Rovers – Stacey Ross, Sami Afele, Hannah Ross. Cellars – Jodie Dietsch, Amy McCabe, Kathryn Blackstock. Marist and Middleton Eagles played out a close 1-1 draw. Teigan Miles and Jo Besant were the goal-scorers for their teams. Teigan Miles was outstanding for Marist gaining six points from the umpires. Best and Fairest: Marist – Teigan Miles, Leanne Miles, Bec Auld. Eagles – Jenna Evans, Pat Cooke.
