In the Aftermath of an Apology aprilS We may never know the real truth. However, for the sake of discussion, let us say what we read in our computer screens were the series of events of what had actually transpired -the accusation, the agency response, more accusation,the silence, the police invitation and investigations(2x), the apology, its acceptance, case dropped. Outside of these events were us and them and maybe other spectators. WE expressed disbelief then, denial then acceptance that KHJ is accused of domestic abuse. But then we rallied behind him, supported him to fight because we didnt believe he could do such things. Our battle cry was: he is innocent till proven guilty. The media helped fan the flames of criticism from THEM while some, I dont know the real figures, left KHJ for good. The series of events alternated with successful happy news coming from his World Tour Phantasm Concerts. It was quite eerie to see KHJ in the pictures and video sent back maintain a confident performers composure as if nothing was happening back home. Or perhaps he knows how to compartmentalize and is a stickler for he show must go on. Almost coming one after the other was the announcement by the organizers that the last concert to be held in Beijing was cancelled (reportedly in spite of many tickets were sold which angered many fans coming from other places), the APOLOGY came. It surprised many who had to check many times the provenance of the news just to be sure it was authentic and of course its contents. Righting the personal wrong through an apology was made almost a month save a few days after the world knew of the accusation. There were those who didnt like the apology because it was tantamount to admitting guilt. I maintained that an apology is needed to clear the succeeding steps toward resolution of the issue. It turned out, as far as we are told, the apology was the only step towards the resolution. The lawyer representing the accuser allegedly said that had he apologized from the start the charges would not have been filed in the police. But to KHJ credit, in another source,the same lawyer had remarked it was unusual for a celebrity to admit he is to be blamed. Early on there were those who expressed their vote of confidence on Hyun Joongs decision as it was his call. While many worried for him as the admission will have strong negative repercussion on his career, others campaign is to give him a second chance.It was also deemed the time after the apology to spend on healing, to be a better person and wished the same for his ex girlfriend. The online discussions in the meantime, as of this writing, remain fierce and combative. Unfortunately, their differences of opinions has often gone personal.One thing is sure it is difficult to get a consensus. Someday, maybe we will see the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle fall in their right places and provide a complete picture.Or should we leave it to the parties concerned to tie together the loose threads of their lives.
