In the Bible, after Jesus was resurrected, Pauls desire was to spread the good news and speak in the Roman coliseums to thousands of people..... Well, he DID make it to Rome, but not the way he expected. He found himself in prison, awaiting his execution and chained to an audience of one, the soldier that was guarding him. So, what did he do? He used that opportunity to preach to that one. That one was saved, then they brought another guard, and that one was saved.. and pretty soon, the entire prison, inmates and guards, were believers! Whats even better..... During the darkest times, he would write letters to his people and the church n Philippi. (We know them as the Book of Philippians) But these were not letters of despair! These were letters of JOY and HOPE! JOY! When he was sitting in a Roman prison, chained to a guard awaiting his execution..... he was joyful with whatever happened. Through it all, he had joy in his heart! WHY? Because he KNEW his rewards for sharing the good news were not necessarily in this life, but for his eternal life. So although Paul did not get to preach to thousands in the coliseum, he has brought MILLIONS to Christ through his letters he wrote while in that dark, cold prison. If you are following the Lords will, sometimes it may not seem like things are going your way.... and we tend to measure our happiness on our circumstances instead of counting our JOY which is based on our spiritual walk regardless of whats going on around us. Happiness can be bought and sold...... JOY cannot. I pray that you find the JOY that surpasses all understanding! And you will do that by getting into the WORD and letting Him reveal truths to you that no man could ever explain. Special shout out to Pastor Chad Benson for an incredible message Sunday!!
