In the Black Box book, Geezer Butler explains: The lyrics to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath were about the the Sabbath experience, the ups and downs, the good times and bad times, the rip-offs, the business side of it all. Bog blast all of you was directed at the critics, the record business in general, the lawyers, the accountants, management and everyone who was trying to cash in on us. It was a backs-to-the-wall rant at everyone. The title refers to Sunday Bloody Sunday, where British soldiers killed 13 protesters in Northern Ireland. The band had been feeling quite pressured by legal entanglements with managers and former managers, and Tony Iommi had writers block. The band rented the supposedly haunted Clearwell Castle in hopes that the change of scenery would give them a vibe and shake some songs loose. Apparently it worked; on their very first day there Iommi wrote the riff to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Guitarist Tony Iommi says that this is one of his favorite Black Sabbath songs. He explained in his book Iron Man: My Journey through Heaven and Hell with Black Sabbath: The riff of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath was the benchmark for that album. It was a heavy riff, then the song went into a light bit in the middle, and then back to the riff again: the light and shade Im always looking for. Ozzy sang very well on it, actually on all of the songs on the album. Very high! https://youtube/watch?v=BqS0NME_PZM Enjoy!!!
