In the Moment Matthew 6:34 NIV Therefore do not worry about - TopicsExpress

In the Moment Matthew 6:34 NIV Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Philippians 3:13 NLT No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, Genesis 19:17 NLT When they were safely out of the city, one of the angels ordered, “Run for your lives! And don’t look back or stop anywhere in the valley! Escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away!” We live not in the past, not in the future but in in the moment. We can look forward to the future but can never go back in time. Excessively dwelling on what happened in the past interferes with focusing on the now - the moments we have right now. Thinking and planning ahead is always good unless we are overly worried about it and/or putting too much pressures on making it perfect. We all get distracted. We daydream. I am just the same as everyone else. Being distracted by the past and too much of the future, I often miss out on the now. There was a pastor who testified about flying over the rocky mountains, how majestic it was. He made those moments count, he enjoyed it. He was wondering why others wasnt doing the same. Why we cant just enjoy the moment. Sometimes we drive by something beautiful but miss it. Sometmes our pets and children are acting so cute, but we miss it. Sometmes we miss what someone has said, something important. Some of us mark our calendars for church. We know when it starts. We sometmes forget we have a date with Jesus. We show up late. When worshipping Him starts, some of us are checking our Facebook, text messages or talking to someone. I know I am guilty as well. The question I ask myself and some of you is, is In the time designated to worship Jesus - are our eyes fully fixed on Him? When we spend time with our loved ones, are we focused on them? or is checking text messages and answering a phone call more important than a son or daughters performance? Are outside factors more important than our loved ones? We are with them, but are we really there? The most important time, I believe is Now, in the moment. Be encouraged to make every moment count. Put the past behind, plan but dont worry about the future. Focus on what we are doing in the moment take every second of church time and fix our eyes on Jesus. Every second spent on loved ones, focus on them. Once the moment, once time has passed, its gone forever. Father God we pray for all our distractions to go away so we can focus on the moment, focus on now. We cherish memories and want to make new ones. We look forward to spending time with You and our loved ones. Help us make every moment count. Help us stop and breath, soaking in what you have created. Help us rest and not worry about things ahead and help us not go back into bad memories. In Jesus Name Amen
