In the U.S. alone, 1.2 billion pounds of pesticides are used every year on NON-ORGANIC produce. Research has shown that certain pesticides are quite toxic and can lead to health problems such as Parkinsons disease, cancer, reproductive disorders and respiratory problems. Organic farmers build healthy soils which produces healthy plants that are able to resist disease and insects. When pest populations get out of balance, organic farmers will use various options like insect predators, mating disruption, traps and barriers. If these fail, the organic certifier may grant the farmer permission to apply a BOTANICAL to the plants to control the insects. Botanicals are derived from plants and are broken down quickly by oxygen and sunlight. Organic farmers nourish their crops by enhancing the living systems of the soil. CONVENTIONAL FACTORY FARMS use NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) fertilizers which, with time, strip the soil of its valuable minerals. The ORGANIC FARMER uses compost, manure and cover crops (like clover which is grown and then plowed under for soil nourishment) these NATURAL fertilizers create the healthiest soil possible. These organic farming practices build up the mineral content of the soil. GMOs are not allowed. What is now called organic farming was the way ALL FARMING was done years ago - they lived without having degenerative diseases which are at epidemic levels today. Its time to WAKE-UP and convert ALL farms back to organic farming!! youtube/watch?v=LSRmFSKBypI
