In the US and Canada, October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. 2014 marks the 11th Annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center. Although intended to raise awareness with the public, the timing of the event helps focus on a significant aspect of modern life that spans every discipline and is absorbed into many human endeavors. Trust in technology and our ability to safely interact and communicate with enterprises, governments, academia, colleagues, friends and family – has become a basic tenet of navigating through life in the 21st century.
