In the aftermath of the 2011 General Election, ACN, the Pro-Yoruba - TopicsExpress

In the aftermath of the 2011 General Election, ACN, the Pro-Yoruba party, had its average support base at 75% of the total Yoruba electorates. Since its merger with the CPC and ANPP to form the APC, and using the gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun states as a yardstick, APC average support base has plummeted to 49% of the total Yoruba electorates. The figures came as APC said it would pick its presidential candidate from the Hausa/Fulani North-West. The new wave of demand for Oduduwa Republic and activism in favour of Regional Autonomy inspired the Yoruba to see APC as a vehicle only for Gambari presidency and against regional autonomy, hence, the movement away from the party in Yorubaland. There is a dramatic realignment with the UPN, SDP, AGN, and Accord Party said to have had many former APC members into their folds and are going to adopt Mr Jonathan as their presidential candidate. PDP will be going into the next election in Yorubaland as a much bigger party than we could have imagined with UPN, SDP, AGN and Accord Party having a working relationship with the PDP and the potential clearly still exists for all these parties to defeat APC and change the political landscape of Yorubaland.
