In the article, author Hugh Wilson not only touches on the recent launch of Vi in the UK and describes The Challenge in depth, but he spoke directly with Ryan Blair to get his take on The Challenge and the Vi UK launch! Take a look at the article for yourself below! A Diet and Fitness Revolution It’s been called a diet and fitness revolution. In the US, millions of people are taking it up and thousands have claimed to have lost weight or improved their physique with its help. And, six weeks after its launch in the UK, 15,000 people here have already signed up. So what’s the big secret? A new micro-workout regime? A piece of state-of-the-art gym equipment? A new A-list diet? Actually – and stop me if you’ve heard this one before – it’s a meal-replacement milkshake. So is Body by Vi old news wrapped up in shiny new paper, or a genuine antidote to the obesity crisis? We talked to the company’s CEO Ryan Blair to get some answers. What’s different about Body by Vi? The people behind Body by Vi say you don’t just go on a diet, you take a Challenge. So, first off, you decide on your goal. Do you want to lose weight, get in better shape or improve your physique? Then you order the kit that best suits your goal. For example, if you want optimal weight loss, you order the kit that provides enough shake mix to replace two daily meals. If you want to maintain your weight while training, you might order the kit that provides one daily meal replacement. Then you enter the 90-Day Challenge. Stick to the program, the company says, and you can lose between 10lb and 25lb in less than three months. But then anyone could say that. So what’s different about Body by Vi and its 90-Day Challenge? “It all starts with the products,” says Ryan Blair. “They’re designed to taste good, which means people are more likely to comply with them. In addition to that, this is a social challenge. People are doing it together with their friends and family, and so they’re more likely to comply because they’re accountable to each other.” The 90-Day Challenge If there is anything different about Body by Vi and its line of meal-replacements shakes, it’s this social element. Around the very basic idea that to lose weight you replace meals with calorie-controlled, nutritionally enhanced milkshakes, the company has built a social challenge. For some people at least, that part seems to make the difference. “We do so well because this is a social thing, a social form of weight loss,” says Blair. “Families join the challenge together, husbands and wives, friends, and they pick a goal and use our products to help them achieve that goal. Our social tools are the key to our success. You go on our Facebook page and you might be looking for shake recipes or workout tips, and you literally have thousands of people helping you.” If you believe the hype, this is key. You don’t just pick a goal, you announce it, and you encourage others to follow your progress or do it with you (or pick their own Challenge). Body by Vi then provides the online tools you need to publicize your goals even more widely and track your progress. It integrates seamlessly with Facebook, for example.
