In the beginning, the Nigerian soldiers had a grip of the situation; then the human rights groups, diplomatic community, opposition politicians, combined Northern elites/elders/traditional rulers/youth/Islamic groups started a campaign against President Jonathan and the Nigerian Armed Forces of committing genocide in Northern Nigeria. Former NSA, late General Azziza was accused of ineffectiveness. So now they brought in a retired General from the Hausa/Fulani stock as Defence Minister, and another Prince, a retired Colonel also of Hausa/Fulani stock as NSA. Boko Haram activities just appear to have kick-started on a higher gear. The gangs are gaining strength, getting bolder and gaining grounds while the Army have developed low morale and losing grounds! Will the U.S involvement in our border security operations not harm us? I remember late General Joshua Dongoyaro, had issues with President Obasanjo on issues of U.S Armys involvement in the retraining programme of the armed forces following return to democratic governance. He boasted then that there was nothing the Nigerian soldiers have to learn from U.S forces in terms of combat operations. See who is call for help now? God help the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
