In the book by JRR. Tolkien; The Return of the King, when Aragorn - TopicsExpress

In the book by JRR. Tolkien; The Return of the King, when Aragorn finally takes up his mantle of kingship over Gondor, using herbs ect he heals several injured people. The book describes how this adds to Aragorns royal aura as king, being that there is an old Gondor legend that says healing power is in the hands of the King. This may or may not have been taken by Tolkien from English history. Starting in the year 1100 AD, King Henry I, youngest son of William the Conqueror simply made up that as king, his personal touch could heal muscle swelling caused by Tuberculosis. This was to give further credence to his claim that God supported Henrys mandate to rule. English monarchs would use the idea to justify their Divine Right to rulership for the next 700 years.
