In the coming days those officers who worked during winter storm will be recognized by Chief Grogan, Deputy Chief Sides and their Command Staff. Chief Grogan will make sure that the citizens know of the outstanding work and dedication that these officers exhibited during the Winter Storm that paralyzed Metro-Atlanta. What you will not here about is that Chief Grogan and Deputy Chief Sides never left the city. They were here through it all! They were not in their warm offices but rather on the streets with their officers. They were pushing cars out of the roads, making sure people got to shelters and making sure their officers had what they needed to get the job done. Like the officers, they were cold, dirty and tired and not a single complaint or grumble was heard from them. They made sure officers had food, sleeping bags and a quite office corner to get a few hours of sleep. We can tell you that they did NOT sleep. We (the officers & sergeants) are proud of our chiefs. Theyve never let us down and were honored to serve with them. We hope that you (the citizens) appreciate them as much as we do.
