In the context of the grave and abject subjugation the Palestinians have faced over the past seven decades, I think it is dangerous to talk about Hamas too much and whether they are good or bad etc. It just excuses the actions of Israel, which far outweigh anything Hamas have ever done. Why shouldnt they fire rockets at Israel? Yes, it puts their lives in danger, but when you are ghettoised, degraded, dictated to, when you live with curfews lack of basic medical aid, when even your food rations are controlled by occupying forces, you have nothing to lose. This isnt about peace - the people of Palestine have horrendous conditions even when Israel arent directly killing them. That is why Hamas fire their pathetic rockets. They are not perfect, but they are all they have and they want more than a tiny scrap of land and to be tyrannised and ruled over by Zionist occupiers. This isnt about Israel just stopping killing them in this latest spate, this is about the bigger picture. Give them back at least some of their land, keep your army off their land, give them total control of their own lives, stop arbitrarily killing their children, the list is endless. This is not a conflict. It is apartheid and genocide. People always want to find another side when it comes to Israel. We would not be having this discussion about South Africa or the holocaust or the slave trade.
