In the cool air that is over us weve seen some convection firing - TopicsExpress

In the cool air that is over us weve seen some convection firing up over the area thanks to the summer sun heating up the ground level. Most of it has been to our east today. You can see the clouds begin to produce a rain column that traverses the other end of the lake. A brief shower or two cannot be ruled out, this afternoon. However, the radar indicates showers are falling apart over Sebago Lake in Maine (where activity is more widespread) and reforming on its other side. That tells us that todays clouds are almost entirely dependent on convection currents from the sun-heated ground. The National Weather Services new radar system allows us to see that there is a seabreeze working its way inland from the Maine coast, and since we dont have much of a west wind over the lake to fend it off, we will probably see a sundown wind from the southeast on this lake later this afternoon.
