In the course of pursuing my efforts to educate and inspire my fellow Americans to oppose the tyranny that is enveloping the Republic today, I have run across a statement a number of times made by veterans and active duty police, sheriff, and military personnel. “I’ve taken an oath to defend the (country, flag, or freedom) against all enemies foreign and domestic.” To most people, especially people who’ve never taken the oath of office, it is innocuous and sounds reasonable and even patriotic; to me it is stark evidence of the ignorance of those who have taken the oath and a principle reason why our forces find themselves in the mess they’re in. The oath does indeed encompass all of those things but neither one in particular alone; the Constitution is what is to be defended against all enemies foreign and domestic because adherence to it defines our Republic, our flag represents it before the world, and when our public servants whose offices are defined within it obey their oaths, limits government to their only purpose, to secure our Rights that come from God. Those taking the oath swear to support and defend the CONSTITUTION against all enemies foreign and domestic; to bear true faith and allegiance to the same... nothing else. publius87.wordpress/2013/09/12/the-duty-of-our-oath/
