In the days prior to the election, the Japanese government published and add in the paper supporting Suematsu and promising the people of Nago $750 million dollars if Suemitsu wins. How dare Abe and his government think they can just buy the land of our ancestors so easily! Going to the language revitalization conference in Hilo this past 3 days showed that language is connected to the ancestors along with the values of our culture which is directly connected to our ancestors. In realizing this, we are directly connected to the land which gives us life, along with the sea. We have an obligation to protect and pass on ancestral land that our ancestors bonded to us through the burying of the piko and afterbirth, and with the blood shed during the war.
