In the early 1950s the Memco Aerial Ladder Co. of Oklahoma City,Ok..produced an electric operated ladder for the fire service.Through the years American produced several quints using this ladder that was available in 50 and 65 foot lengths. The ladders were raised by an electric motor and the fly ladder was extended and traversed by hand. They could be mounted midship or rear rmounted. There was two small fold down screw jacks to make it stable. The photo on the right shows a typical rear mount and the left photo shows the hand crank used for extension and traversing. Thought you might find this of interest. These ladders were made available by American for about a five year period.
