In the early 70s, people told me that I shouldnt see Jesus Christ - TopicsExpress

In the early 70s, people told me that I shouldnt see Jesus Christ Superstar, for it was sinful. It remains one of my favorite movies; and I still love the musical writing of Andrew Lloyd Webber. About the same time, people talked about how horrible it was that Jesus was made into a clown in Godspell. Again, I love it even today. In 1990, people were telling me that I shouldnt see The Last Temptation of Christ. I saw it. It was a terrible movie, and I told people they shouldnt see it...not because it was evil, but it was just a bad movie... the acting was terrible, and the script was boring. I was told a couple of years ago I must, as a Christian, see The Passion of the Christ. I saw it. It was graphic, it was bold... but I was not as excited about it as some. == Pardon the rant... it was an occasional rant when it was one movie in a year... seeing it 3 times in a spring I guess just has me amazed. I am not one who likes to be told what to watch. == I am told I must see Son of God as a good Christian interpretation of the Bible. I am already being told I must see Heaven is for Real comes out next month. I am told this week, I should boycott Noah. as a left-winged, non-Christian interpretation of the Bible. === At some point, I will probably see all of these... but Im not rush out to the movies. I saw one episode of The Bible miniseries, that Son of God is based on, and within 5 minutes, it was leaving me scratching my head. I guess its safe to say, I was not impressed. I guess, for me, this work of Roma Downey and Mark Burnett didnt make me want to see more. I read the book Heaven is for Real. But I am not a heaven-minded person, choosing to believe in this life. Noah... I am interested in seeing the story... but to be honest, hearing all the chatter about how bad it is without one bit of evidence is amazing, and makes me want to see it more than the others But please, with all due respect, please, dont tell me what I must do as a Christian. These are movies... they are not the Bible. These are interpretations, not words straight from God. (I should put a last line here... something about grace... but I cant think how to word it... so I will just leave it at that). Thanks for understanding... Blessings yall.
