In the early days of Sebring, those who knew George E. Sebring personally admired and respected him, and after his death in 1927, many citizens wanted to keep alive the memory of his dynamic personality, by dedicating one day each year as “Founder’s Day”. Annual “Founder’s Day” celebrations continued, with variations to the format each year, getting more elaborate as the years went on and drew many visitors from all across the state.
